Loosely based on the notorious Richard Speck murders, this is the grim tale of a disturbed Vietnam vet returning home via Belfast, who invades a house shared by eight nurses and proceeds to terrorize and murder them. - IMDB Description

The "meaning" of the violence in Belfast isn't that mysterious: with insane violence being carried out on an international level, who will mind 8 murders? When they give a man a medal for killing, why cannot he go on killing? This was a timely piece in the Viet Nam era and, in spite of viewers who might find it unrealistic, pretty accurate about the Speck murders and what serial murderers do generally.
It will certainly be unpalatable for some viewers because, like many movies of the 70s, there is no opportunity for heroism. But that's a 70s norm: see Dog Day Afternoon, Klute, Panic in Needle Park, etc.

What I love about this movie, and a few other gems like it, is that it has guts. The 70's are known for realism and Naked Massacre a perfect example. The sexual violence is relentless and you feel what the characters feel, both the stalker and the nurses.
Not for the timid, this movie appeals to those of us who can appreciate raw suspense.

Very good movie, but disturbing and graphic
Also known as Born for Hell this movie details the exploits of a trained killer who makes the subtle switch from killing for his country to killing for pleasure.
Most of the other reviews for this film are completely unfair reactions to the acts of the killer in it and not the quality of the film itself.

Why was this even made?
Utterly pointless, but films of this sort usually are. With the setting in Belfast with violence all around and war reports on TV, there seems to be a half-baked attempt at saying something about our violent society, but that's as far as it goes.

Based on an actual serial killing
It's very realistic and based on a true account in which a man named Richard Speck raped and murdered 8 student nurses.
In the supposed warzone atmosphere of daily violence in 1970-era Belfast, not one of 8 trained nurses is capable of putting up any defense against a solitary, not very energetic, man with a single knife. How realistic is that?

I guess the real question is...
...are there NAKED ASS-ACRES?
Yes. Yes, there are. Naked bloody asses, and other body parts, bereft of raiment and awash in crimson. Fred Olen Ray, of blood-sprayed mammary fame, may even sit up and take notice.
